Safe Scan for Emails is one of many tools the Dock team is working on that align with our mission to empower you to have better control over your online data. This feature allows you to check if your email address has been compromised in an online data breach. A "breach" is an incident where data has been unintentionally exposed to the public. Try it here.
How it works
When you check your email on Safe Scan the system verifies if that account has ever appeared in any of the known data breaches, verifying against the 5,371,008,023 accounts known to have been compromised.
Can I scan multiple emails?
Yes. You can scan as many emails as you'd like to check. Make sure to secure any compromised emails to have better control over your data.
How to secure an account that has been compromised?
You will get specific instructions for each account on how to have better control of your data. You can also take the following steps:
- Change your password. Make sure to generate a unique and complex password for each of your accounts. Use websites like https://passwordsgenerator.net/ or https://www.lastpass.com/password-generator
- Enable 2-Factor Authentication
- Subscribe to alerts when your account has been accessed from a new device or a different location
- Subscribe to monthly updates from Safe Scan about your scanned accounts
