Data Breach Finder is one of many tools the Dock team is working on that align with our mission to empower you to have better control over your online data. This feature allows you to check if there have been any Account breaches or Password breaches. A "breach" is an incident where data has been unintentionally exposed to the public. Try It here!

Account Breaches

How it works

When you check your email on Data Breach Finder the system verifies if that account has ever appeared in any of the known data breaches, verifying against the 5,371,008,023 accounts known to have been compromised.

Can I scan multiple emails?

Yes. You can scan as many emails as you'd like to check.  Make sure to secure any compromised emails to have better control over your data.

How to secure an account that has been compromised?

You will get specific instructions for each account on how to have better control of your data. You can also take the following steps:

  1. Change your password. Make sure to generate a unique and complex password for each of your accounts. Use websites like https://passwordsgenerator.net/ or https://www.lastpass.com/password-generator
  2.  Enable 2-Factor Authentication
  3. Subscribe to alerts when your account has been accessed from a new device or a different location
  4. Subscribe to monthly updates from Data Breach Finder about your scanned accounts

Password Breaches

Data Breach Finder allows you to check if the passwords you use have ever been exposed on the web in data breaches so you know if they need to be secured.

How it works

Passwords are only used for a one-time reference when they are scanned. The system doesn’t save the password you put in. When you check your password with Data Breach Finder it is compared to the 517,238,891 real world passwords previously exposed in data breaches.

My password has been compromised, what now?

After the scan you will get specific instructions for each password. You can also take these steps:

  • Change your password. Generate a strong and complex password that contains at least 6 symbols, including numbers, special characters, uppercase and lowercase letters.
  • Enable 2 Factor Authentication.
  • Subscribe to alerts when your account has been accessed from a new device or a different location
  • Subscribe to monthly updates from Data Breach Finder about your scanned passwords

Not compromised?

Great! There are still steps you can take to make your account more secure:

  • Do not reuse your password.
  • Use websites like https://passwordsgenerator.net/ or https://www.lastpass.com/password-generator  to generate secure passwords for each website
  • Enable 2 Factor Authentication
  • Subscribe to alerts when your account has been accessed from a new device or a different location
  • Subscribe to monthly updates from Data Breach Finder about your scanned passwords

Give Data Breach Finder a try and stay safe!
